The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Consortium was established in 1965 with the aim of protecting and promoting the image of the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and the two Doc Rosso and Vin Santo di Montepulciano, in Italy and in the world. Currently the members of the Consortium are approximately 270 (of which bottlers over 75), representing almost the entire area under vines. Under this broad representativeness, the Consortium carries out among other things the role of the denomination management, control of wines on the market, the legal protection of the brand in Italy and internationally, to promote and enhance the entire denomination.
PRODUCTION AREA: The production area is on the part of the territory of the town of Montepulciano between 250 and 600 m .. The hectares s.l.m
of vineyards enrolled in the vineyards of D.O.C.G. are approximately 1.300 while for the production of Montepulciano D.O.C. Red members are about 389 hectares.
THE NOBLE WINE
On 1 July 1980, Noble became the first wine in Italy that can boast of the ties of the Denomination of Origin Controlled and Guaranteed (D.O.C.G.). The maximum yield per hectare of vineyard is 80 quintals with an effective yield of 70% wine. The wine can be
placed on the market only after two years of maturation (three for the Riserva) and in any case after passing strict controls of chemical and organoleptic properties. The vinification and maturation must take place in the town of Montepulciano.
